What You Need to Know About Your Nissan Key Fob
You've either lost your Nissan keyfob or it has stopped working. Before you contact the dealership or panic, retrace your steps to check where you last had it.
It's not a big deal to change the battery on your Nissan key fob. You'll soon be able to get the hang out of it.
Smart Keys
The key fob that was included with your Nissan is an essential element of the car's modern keyless entry system. It connects to the vehicle's electronic systems to unlock doors or start the engine, and it features a convenient design that is easy to keep on hand. A key fob can also provide convenience features, like locks out protection. This feature will ensure that you don't accidentally leave your vehicle without keys inside.
Contrary to earlier models of key fobs which required you place the key in an ignition slot to access your vehicle's onboard systems, smart keys work wirelessly. When you get close to the vehicle the Nissan detects the Intelligent Key fob's proximity to it and activates its internal functions. This can be as simple as opening or locking the doors, lowering and raising the tailgate, or even starting the engine.
Some smart key models include a concealed metal key to serve as a valet parking device. The key can be pulled from a release on the side of the Smart Key fob to secure the trunk or glove box prior to handing it over to the valet. The Smart Key fob has a charging pocket which can be used to charge the battery when it is not in use.
It is possible to replace the batteries in your Nissan Intelligent Key fob if it's not working properly. The majority of fobs utilize CR2025 or CR2032 batteries. Instructions for changing the batteries are available in the owner's manual.
Intelligent Key Fob
With a Nissan Intelligent Key Fob you can open your car's doors and begin its engine with the push of one button. You can also set up presets that meet your needs. For instance you can adjust the seat and mirrors to ensure maximum comfort. You can also control the music from your smartphone, so you'll never need to leave your vehicle.
Intelligent Key Fob have a built-in antenna, which transmits the signal when you enter your vehicle or press one of its buttons. When your vehicle is notified, it activates the system, opening or locking doors, starting the engine, and opening the trunk. If you want to test out the fob, stand at a distance away from your vehicle and press the buttons. If the lights flash, or the horn sounds sound, you have successfully programmed the Intelligent Key Fob.
Like all remotes, Intelligent Key fobs require batteries in order to function. Our Parts Department will help you quickly and easily replace the battery if it is out of batteries. To do this, remove the hidden key and access the battery compartment of your key fob. Remove the old battery and then insert a fresh one in its place. Make sure that the positive side of the new battery is facing the same direction as the original one did. Close the battery compartment and then return the secret key to its original position inside the case.
Remote Start
Nissan remote start allows drivers to heat or cool their vehicles from outside, as long as they are within the operating range. The ignition of the vehicle can be activated by pressing an appropriate button on a key fob or smartphone application. Remote start systems can also engage climate control that allows the driver to set their preferred temperature. Some systems offer two-way communications which allows the driver to observe what is happening in their vehicle.
If your car's remote start function isn't functioning, the most frequent reason is the low power of the battery. The key fob is powered by a tiny battery which can be replaced. It can last for around two years. It's an easy task, but you'll need to know the location of the key hidden on your Intelligent Key fob and how to access the battery compartment.
To do so switch your fob on its side and press the key release latch located on the back of the keypad. Once the key pad is opened remove the battery and replace it with a new one, making sure it is the same dimensions and configuration of the current battery. Before closing the outer case, ensure that the hidden button is inserted and the key fob is put back together correctly. Lockout Protection
Lockout protection eliminates annoying lockouts due to impedance relay malfunction. A special module inside the power control unit is able to monitor the activity of the impedance relay and then disables the output. This feature is only available for vehicles that have the Smart Key system or through the personalization menu of the vehicle.
Many serious accidents have happened because a machine was started when it should have been shut down to allow for maintenance or repair. These accidents are usually caused by energy that was not released properly. Lock-out tag-out (LOTO) systems can prevent these incidents by ensuring that machines are off until an authorized person releases them.
